Looking back over the previous five decades from the vantage point of 1950, we can see many ways in which McDoel’s history parallels the course of national events. Wars; economic surges, downturns, and plateaus; increasing reliance on cars; decline of railroads; work patterns shifting, from hard physical labor to more skilled jobs; the emergence of national corporations all these forces helped shape the neighborhood.
